Counselors

Rachel Nunez, M.A., LPC-Supervisor, LCDC

Experience: Rachel has over 20 years experience working with families. She has worked in hospital inpatient, outpatient and drug/alcohol rehab settings.  Rachel sees couples, families, adults and adolescents. She accepts clients from 7-18 years old as well as adults 18+. Rachel is a member of the American Counseling Association and the Texas Counseling Association.

Education: Rachel obtained a Bachelors of Arts in Psychology from Grambling State University. She then obtained her Masters of Arts in Psychology from Louisiana Tech University and a Masters of Professional Counseling from Amberton University. She is a licensed professional counselor supervisor, licensed chemical dependency counselor and a certified school counselor. 

Rachel's Philosophy of Counseling: “While we can't always control life's circumstances, we can learn to control how we react and respond to them. We are all affected by our past, but that does not have to determine who we are now.  In therapy I strive to take the client on a journey of self-exploration leading toward change that will positively impact their life.”

Availability: Rachel offers Telehealth and in office appointments. She offers online anger management classes, substance abuse assessments and groups. Rachel has WEEKDAY, EVENINGS and WEEKEND APPOINTMENTS/classes available. 

 

Cotrina Washington, M.S., LPC

Experience: Cotrina has over five years experience working in mental health field and over twenty years in the healthcare field. She has worked in nonprofit agency as well as acute hospital settings.  Cotrina sees families, adults and adolescents. She accepts clients from 10-18 years old as well as adults 18+. She is a member of the American Counseling Association.

Education: Cotrina obtained a Bachelors of Applied Arts from Texas A &M University - Commerce. She then obtained her Masters of Science in Business Management from Texas A & M University – Commerce. Later, she changed careers and obtained a Masters of Professional Counseling from Texas A & M University – Commerce and is currently a licensed professional counselor.

Cotrina's Philosophy of Counseling: “When people experience trauma and severe life stressors, it is not uncommon for their lives to unravel. Stop letting your past failures and traumas block you from living victoriously. My great passion is to bring healing to clients. In therapy, I help clients to break down the walls of isolation where they suffer in silence. Rather than focusing on the negatives, we explore solutions and healthy coping skills which highlight the strengths and wisdom we inherently possess. You are the expert in your own life, but you are not alone in your struggles. My counseling office is a space where you can safely process your woes and achieve healing with my support throughout your life's journey. ”

Availability: Cotrina offers individual and family therapy in the office and through telehealth. Cotrina has WEEKDAY and EVENING APPOINTMENTS available.
